& Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux,
and a contemporary winery
The castle is located in the commune of Tauriac. We produce classified white, rosé and red wines from the Côtes de Bourg and Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux appellations on our 35 hectares vineyard.
Our vines are planted in different soils and terroirs which are managed in a sustainable way to guarantee optimal ripening of the grapes. By planting our grape varieties on specific plots of land, our Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec grapes can express themselves beautifully.
These grapes thrive on our clay-limestone soils with beautiful gravelly sections. They also benefit from an excellent south-western exposure, which provides good sunshine and ensures proper ripening of the grapes.
A modern production tool
Our half-buried cellar provides excellent thermal insulation and features a three-storey gravity-fed grape reception system for the highest quality of vinification.
The cellar is equipped with the latest oenological tools and a temperature control system to manage the vinification process.
The winery also has a barrel cellar, which is renewed every year. This allows some of our wines to further age.
Château Laroche has been committed to sustainable viticulture for several years.
Our work is regulated by the HVE (High Environmental Value) certification, which means that we respect the soil, the biodiversity, the people working in the vineyard and the final consumer.
Maintaining grass cover and permanent flowering meadows in the vineyard helps maintain biodiversity, local fauna, especially bees. We also collect and treat effluents, and only use products when necessary and preferably biocontrol products (which have less impact on the environment). All these measures are taken in the vineyard to meet the certification’s requirement.
